Ownership Changes

I will now be in charge of Orlando, and the new manager Wildwing88 will manage Virginia. I thought that owning a team in his state would make him want to join even more.

Game 12

Virginia Uniforms - Orlando Uniforms

Notes
Frustrating game for the Bums. A big pitching duel happened, and the Bums' offensive woes continued. The action started early Everett walked, and two batters later, Toby Hall in his new batting spot. In the second, the game shifted. The Bums' would get ousted in 1-2-3 fashion, and Ben Grieve led off the inning with a solo homer. The next inning, the top 2 batters got on base after a walk and a double. Grieve came up again, and hit his second homer of the day. 4 RBIs would be enough, ultimately. On the other side of the ball, Wells retired 12 strait batters from the 1st to 5th. The Bums rallied, but Everett couldn't drive any in and the Bums fell again.

Omaha Uniforms - Austin Uniforms

Notes
A great game of power and hitting. The Roughnecks scored first, with Dukes on second, Rocco Baldelli tripled to take the lead. Gabbard held the game down getting 2 Ks, and got out of the inning. Bobby Crosby got a base hit with Atkins at third, to tie the game for Omaha. But the lead didn't last. Rodriguez walked, and Chris Burke homered, his 2nd homer of his 2 hits this year. Then Bobby Bradley let the game go. Javier Valentin lined a pitch up and homered with Mathews on 3rd, and Vidro at 2nd after a double. So a 4-3 Omaha lead is what the Roughnecks were looking at. That didn't last long. The first batter of the inning, Brendan Irons hit a solo homer. Chad Bradford came in to hold the game, and he really did. He had his first two batters in scoring position, then retired 3 strait to end the inning. The game was tied, for Chris Burke. Another home run for the DH, and is 3 for 6 with 3 home runs on the season. Khalil Greene homered for good measure, and Bradford shut down Omaha and got the Roughnecks a win.

Portland Uniforms - Montreal Uniforms

Notes
The Trappers are trying to avoid the sweep at home, but they would have to get some offense going against Ben Sheets. The first batter for Montreal, Joey Gathright, homered and that would be enough. Sheets gave up a single to Richie Sexson, and that was the only hit given up by him. Kurt Ainsworth pitched good, and only gave up his second run with a walk. But they put in Calero, hoping to hold the game down. Sheets didn't let up and he shut the team down for the 5th and earned a win.

Bums change Lineup

(Virginia Beach, VA)
After being swept by Orlando, the Bums' manager Michael Taylor decided to boost offence with a change in the line up to balance out the batting order. The new order will be.

1 SS Adam Everett
2 OF Eric Byrnes
3 C Toby Hall
4 3B Hank Blalock
5 1B Jason Stokes
6 OF Adam Greenberg
7 DH
8 OF Bubba Crosby
9 2B Michael Holliman

Hall and Blalock move down, as Byrnes moves up. Hall has the best batting average ont he team, and Blalock has the 2nd most RBIs, behind Everett. Batting .095, Larry Bigbie will be switching with Brad Wilkerson at DH. Jason Stokes moves up to 5th place while batting .300.

If you want to change your line up, tell me. Then, I can add you to the authors list and we can all post.

Game 11

Virginia Uniforms - Orlando Uniforms

Notes
With the sweep withing range, a pitching duel would decide this game. Aces Mulder and James were on the mound, and Orlando got up early. With Freeman on first, Brent Abernathy tripled him in to make it 1-0. Joe Crede came up big two batters later getting a base hit scoring Abernathy. That would prove to be enough for James. In the 3rd, the Bums tried to come back. Greenberg tripled, and with two outs, Blalock doubled him home. Even though Mulder had 5 strike outs, his team didn't do enough to get him the win, and the Bums dopped to 4-5.

Omaha Uniforms - Austin Uniforms

Notes
Two pretty good pitchers up against eachother in a Lommel division battle. A perfect 1st on both sides, then a few singles in the second kept the game tied with blanks. The scoring started in the third, Vidro homered to take the lead, and in the bottom of the inning, Chris Burke homered to tie the game up. The game was tied going into the 5th. Crosby hit a Ponson pitch into the corner and got to second base. Ellison was up next and hit a double for hiself, to take the lead for the Cyclones. Jorge Julio came in for the save, and tied the Cyclones for first place with Austin.

Notes
A great pitching match up in Montreal, as they're going for a sweep. Doug Waechter pitched excellent in this game, but so did Eric Milton. Through 4 innings, there was only two hits, a single by Church and Burroughs. 5 Strikeouts were recorded, two walks, and no pitcher was going to stop. Eric Milton went out in the top of the 5th, and gave up a lead off hit by Giles. With two outs, Simon walked. With Ricky Bracket up, he grounded out with a chance to knock in the runs. Rob Bowen walked with a full count, and first pitch, Daniel Ortmeier tripled scoring Bowen for the Bleus' victory.

Line Ups

Alright, does anyone want the stats, to change their line up? You can see your lineup from the previous game. Just remember the DH changes between your bench players every time one doesn't get a hit.

I can also send you free agents if you want.

Post your emails in the comments

Motivation

Would anyone be interested in managing a team? Basically being the owner of a franchise, and running the roster, draft, and team issues.

I'm falling behind on this, and people would be able to help sim and stuff.

Game 10

Virginia Uniforms - Orlando Uniforms

Notes
Are you ready for a whale of a game? The longest CBL game has taken place in Orlando. Hank Blalock led off the scoring with a 2 run home run with Adam Everett on base after a lead off walk. Jennings settled down after that, but it wasn't nearly over. A RBI single from Hillenbrand scored Grieve in the 2nd, and in the 3rd, a triple, double, and double gave Orlando the lead. Nieve's struggles didn't end. A 2 run home run by Inglett in the 4th. The game was virtually over. Brazelton came in and gave up a solo shot by Greenberg. But the worst thing happened, Everett doubled, and Hall hit a home run of his own, tying up the game at 5. Brian Anderson loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th, but struck Grieve out. In the 9th, Boof Bonser seemingly blew the game. A triple by Crosby, single by Holliman, walk by Greenberg, and an Everett double made the score 7-5 Bums. But Windsor came in for relief. Freeman hit a 2 run home run tying it, and with Simms on first, Grieve hits a triple chasing him home for the win.

Notes
A battle between two premier aces of the CBL wasn't impressive at all. In the first, Valentin hit a two run homer with Mathews, Jr on second. Hermida singled, and Atkins hit another two run home run off of Zambrano. The next inning, Monroe singled in Ellison. Down 5-0 in the 2nd, while Prior had a perfect game after 2. Zambrano loaded the bases in the 3rd, when he got out of it. That was it for him with an abysmal 8.33 ERA. Prior gave up 3 extra base hits in the bottom of the 3rd and that resulted in 3 runs. Yan came in for relief, and he knew he was in to round out the game. With one on, Ensberg hit a 2 run homer of his own. In the 5th, ANOTHER 2 run homer was hit, this time by Mathews, Jr. Unofficially, the most 2 run homers by one team in one game, at 4. The misery wasn't over, Vidro and Hermida doubled making it 10-2. Prior stayed in for the 5th, which wasn't good either. Greene hit a bases loaded double, scoring two. But Prior ended it with a Spivey ground out, and the Cyclones are above .500 and hot.

I called this game wrong. I figured Dontrelle Willis would blow the Bleus out of the water. But the Bleus came to play. In the bottom of the first, with Guzman and Church on base, Josh Phelps hit a two run homer. On the flip side, Meche was having a great game. After 3 innings, he only had given up 2 hits, and struck out 2. Bottom of the 3rd, and Brent Butler tripled in Phelps, giving them a 4-0 lead. CBL Season 4

I may be getting ahead of myself, but these are plans for next season

New Reserves- With the growing number of rookies and spaces, the Reserves will be increased to 10. Each team will draft 5 players this draft. The players will try and earn a spot on the team, with a possible 2 game each pre season to try out new players.

Injuries- With reserves, there has to be a chance to be moved up. I will try to work out an injury system. It is more realistic and will play more into the teams season.

Salaries- A salary system will be in place with terms and years. So certain teams will be able to pick up free agents and improve.

Game 9

Virginia Uniforms - Orlando Uniforms

Notes
Robert Ware had his second start in the CBL, but up against Shawn Chacon, his offense would need to help him. Blalock homered in the first inning, but the M's came back with an Abernathy triple scoring Freeman. In the second, Jason Stokes hit a solo homer of his own. The M's matched it once again with a double by Inglett scoring Hillenbrand. It wasn't till the 4th when the game was won. A single and 2 walks loaded the bases. Then, Ware walked Freeman which gave a lead for Bonser to come in and save the game.

Notes
The Lommel Division's top two teams faced off in Austin. The Roughnecks retired Sean Casey's number, and got him a win. Papelbon gave up a home run right away to Mathews Jr, his 2nd on the year. In the second, it looked like the Cyclones would win with bases loaded and one out, Buscher grounded into a double play. Munson tripled in Spivey, them Damian Rolls hit a double giving the 'Necks two runs in the inning. Mathews walked, then Vidro hit a go ahead home run . The 4th is when Backe broke down. In 3 inningd, he was dominant and had 4 Ks. a single, and two doubles by the 4-5-6 hitters scored 2 runs. Rodriguez singled, setting up a 2 on situation with Lecroy batting, who hit a 3 run shot putting the game out of reach. Game 8

Austin Uniforms - Montreal Uniforms

Notes
Eric Milton had his second start north of the border. But Victor Zambrano had his second start of the season, after missing his last start. In the first, a Baldelli Walk set up the table for Brendan Irons, who hit his second home run of the season. But in the 2nd was when things really got interesting. With two runners on first, Matt Lecroy tee'd off with a 3 run homer. That wasn't the end. Khalil Greene hit a solo home run two batters later. In the same situation as the first, Baldelli walked, and Irons hit his second home run of the day. 8 runs in the first two innings was enough by far. In the 4th, Jake Woods came in to relive Milton. In the 4th, two doubles plated one for the home side. The game ended quietly due to 1-2-3 fifth innings. The Roughnecks are putting ground on second place, now 1.5 up, with Omaha still to play.

Notes
Absolutely crazy game. The most pitchers used in CBL history at 7. In the first, the Trappers pulled away early. The first 10 batters of the game had an at bat in the top of the first. Kason Gabbard got Bracket out to end the miserable inning. The Cyclones got one back in the bottom of the inning with two doubles by the 3 and 4 holes. The following inning, Burroughs hit a solo homer making it 5-1. Tadano loaded the bases in the 2nd, but got out of it. Brown doubled, and Berroa tripled in the 3rd that would be enough for Gabbard with 6 ER in 3 innings. But then the comeback began. A 3 run home run by Atkins made it 6-4. Then, a single by Buscher brought in Crosby from third. With a runner on, Gary Mathews, Jr. unloaded on a pitch and caused the 'Clones to take the lead 7-6. The very next inning, Taschner was in for his first appearance of the year, and a double scored Encarnacion at 3rd. That tie would remain with two 6 star relief pitchers in for 2 innings each. Gagne gave up one hit, and struck out 2 in 2 for his first game of the season. In the 7th, Calero loaded the bases from a double, single, and walk. Then Buscher comes up again and gets a hit over the head of Encarnacion for a double, but one was enough and the Cyclones completed an amazing comeback.

Game 7

Austin Uniforms - Montreal Uniforms

Notes
A nice afternoon game in Montreal, especially for the Bleus fans. Chris Young was up against Bobby Bradley, the Roughneck's 3rd starter. Both pitchers had fairly good starting innings. But walks were a major part of the game. Young loaded the bases in the 2nd after two walks and a single. The game was scoreless, until Baldelli singled in Greene who hit a triple. Then, the Bleus finally broke through. A leadoff double by Ortmeier, then a walk, single, and two more walks. Bradley walked in two runs, but it wasn't over. Josh Phelps hit a big double to make it 4-1. In the 5th, Manny Delcarmen was in for his first appearance in the CBL. A walk, K, then a double play wnded the game, and gave Montreal it's first win in team history.

Notes
In order to not be swept at home, the Bums would need a good performance by Looper.
Luckily, Looper was on. In the first with two runners on, Abernathy grounded into a double play. To start the bottom half off, Adam Everett homered. In the second, Pete LaForest doubled scoring Crede. Robels singled scoring Hillenbrand, and gave the M's the lead. But in the bottom half of the inning, With two runners in scoring position, Everett got another RBI from a single. Baldelli hit a double scoring Holliman. That was enough, as Anderson earned the save in the 5th.

Notes
The second start of Akimumi Koike went better than his first, though he almost blew it. The Cyclones jumped ahead in the first with 4 hits, scoring 2 runs. But the Trappers scored two of their own with a Giles double, and Berroa triple. Omaha finally broke Ainsworth. Two singles to start the inning, then a walk. With bases loaded, the next three batters got on, including a 2 rbi double by Brian Buscher. Ainsworth left the game, as his night was done. In the 5th, Koike was going for the complete game. Simon and Burroughs walked, then who else but Juan Encarnacion to hit a home run, making it 6-5. Pena and Sexson couldn't manage to tie, and the Cyclones even up'd their record at 3-3.

The double play will be included in the rules for further notice. If there is one, or no outs, and a runner is on first... If the following batter has his at bat randomized, and the first TWO results are out, then both runners will be out, and the pitcher will be able to breathe easier.

Game 6

Austin Uniforms - Montreal Uniforms

Notes
ben Sheets had his first CBL start against the Roughnecks. The problem is that Montreal has no offense. In 3 games, the team has scored just 3 runs. In the first, Sheets was a little rusty. Khalil Greene hit a two run home run as the second batter in Sheets career. Two more batters got on off of singles. But a 2-0 lead over the Bleus means a good chance at winning. Damian Rolls hit a bases loaded single to make it 3-0. The Bleus managed to get one in after a triple and double in the fourth. Clarke and Yan both pitched scoreless 5th innings, and the final was 3-1

Notes
Two of the better pitchers in the league up against each other. Mark Mulder and Chuck James wanting to win and take first place. Early on it looked like the Bums would run away. With Hall and Blalock on base, Eric Byrnes hit a 3 run home run. The M's slowly worked back into the game. A double by Crede plated Grieve int he 2nd. In the 3rd, Grieve hit a home run of his own, with Jamie Simms on base. That tied up the game. But the M's broke it open in the next inning. Inglett hit a solo home run, then with Robels on base Freeman hit a home run. Grive came up big again when he singled when Abernathy tripled. 7-3 would be the ending score after the M's broke it open.

Notes
Trying to bounce back from being no hit, the Cyclones put their best arm on the mound for the game in Mark Prior. But unlucky Doug Waechter never really has gotten to ace status although being a 6 point pitcher after performing great in season 1. Both pitchers had good first innings. The Trappers got one across when Angel Berroa singled with Marcus Giles on third base after a triple. It wasn't till the 4th till the Cyclones scored. With runners on first and second, Morgan Ensberg hit a 3 run home run. That was enough for the Cyclones and Jorge Julio came in for a perfect 3 out save.

Bleus sign Sheets

The winless Montreal Bleus make a move to improve their pitching staff. 35 year old Free Agent Ben Sheets will replace Noah Lowery as the 4th starter. Sheets is a 6 point pitcher, but he will get as many starts as a first starter.

Sheets will wear the number 36. When asked why, Sheets said "I've worn 15, 21, and 28 in my career. Those were taken. I looked at number 51, but I respect Lowery and won't take his. I added 15 and 21 together to get 36." Sheets will fly to Montreal and start the next game against the Roughnecks.

As far as Lowery, he will be released. He may be signed as a RP at the end of the season, but he does not have a job as of now.

Game 5

Orlando Uniforms - Virginia Uniforms

Notes
On the day Doug Mientkiewicz has his number retired, an actually surprising pitching duel took place. The last pitchers in each rotation for the M's and Bums pitched really good for 3 of the 4 innings. Both pitchers had a great first 2 innings, Nieve had a no hitter until the 3rd. But in the third, a walk and a home run set up the lead. Simms walked, then of course Brent Abernathy hit an RBI triple. Ben Grieve knocked him in with a single of his own. Batting around this inning took the wind out of the game. Jason Jennings was in the 4th, when a walk, double, and a Crosby Home run made it much closer. 4-3 into the last inning. The reliable Boof Bonser had a perfect inning to tie up the Taylor division with Virginia.

Notes
The last time Backe pitched against the Trappers, the first no hitter was thrown in CBL history in Portland. Well something funny happened this game. In Omaha, Dontrelle Willis throws a no hitter opposite of Backe. In the first, the Trappers scored 3 fast ones off of two singles, and two doubles. In the 3rd, Encarnacion hit a solo home run. A 4-0 would be enough for Dontrelle. As the first batter of the 3rd, Morgan Ensberg walked. He was one walk away from a perfect game as he retired the next 9 batters for a no no.

Notes
The last game of the series between these rivals. These two pitchers matched up great, Papelbon and Tadano going at it. The 1st innings were identical. 5 batters one K, one single, and one walk. In the second, Ricky Bracket opened up the scoring with a triple with the bases loaded. The lead didnt last long. The other rookie in the game one upped Bracket. After a double scored Dukes, Brandon Irons connected for a 3 run homer to make it 4-3. The pitchers held until the 5th, where closers were put in. Calero had a perfect inning in the top half. Game 3

Austin Uniforms - Portland Uniforms

Notes
A compelling match up between two rivals goes late. Ainsworth and Bradley were on the mound. The Roughnecks scored 2 in the first when Munson doubled in two runs. Elijah Dukes tripled, scoring LeCroy. Going into the bottom of 3, Bradley only had given up one hit. The Trappers batted around, and scored 4 runs. Two home runs lifted the Trappers into the lead. Austin came back fast with Greene hitting a solo home run. The next inning, Ainsworth was still in, but he gave up the go ahead homer, and two doubles making it a 7-4 game. Sanchez didn't make his win easy. Encarnacion homered for the second time to make it 7-5. That was all they could score, and Austin takes the lead in the Lommel Division.

Virginia Uniforms - Montreal Uniforms

Notes
The first game in Robert Ware's career went great. He was up against Eric Milton, former Bum pitcher who was picked up by Montreal in free agents. However, Milton got the better start of the game. He had a no hitter through 2 innings. Ware gave up singles to the first two batters, but settled down, and got the next 9 batters out. In the top of the 3rd, with Holliman on base, Brad Wilkerson hit a two run home run for the lead. The Bleus loaded the bases in the next inning. Ware then retired the last two batters, and got out of his first real scare. Top of five, the game was busted open. Bubba Crosby homered to start. Wilkerson singled, and Toby Hall hit another home run. That made the score 5-0. The Bleus wouldn't make the game all happy. Guzman tripled to score Bergeron. That would be it as Ware gets his first win of his career.

Notes
Orlando had the match up in favor of them once again with Shawn Chacon being on the mound. But Kason Gabbard kept it close. The M's got off early, Simms singled, and Abernathy homered to put them up 2-0 in the first. But the very next inning, Atkins homered with Hermida on board to tie up the game. Later that inning, Simms came up with runners on the corners. A double would put 2 runners in scoring position, then Abernathy struck out with the 3-2 lead. In the next inning, Inglett doubled after two batters walked. That would eventually be the game winning hit. Atkins did hit another home run to make it 4-3, but the Cyclones couldn't score off of BJ Ryan in the 5th and fell to 1-2

Notes
Game 2 in the new stadium, and Austin pulls it off. The Roughnecks started early. The 2nd and 3rd batters, Greene and Baldelli, hit back to back homers. In the 3rd, THe same tandem scored 2 more. Greene singled, and Baldelli hit him in again. On the dlip side, Sidney Ponson was dealing. Through his 4 innings, he only gave up 2 hits. In the 5thi inning, Junior Spivey came up with Baldelli on first. Another homer off of Waechter. A rough start for a good starter. But the Trappers fought back. With Bradford in, they hit 3 doubles, and scored 3 runs. This included Ricky Bracket hitting a 2 run double. Encarnacion got out, to end the game.

Notes
Game two north of the border, and the Bleus played better. Gil Meche was on the hill for Montreal. He struggled early though. In the first, Hall tripled scoring Everett, when was hit home by Byrnes. In the second, a two run double by Everett made it 4-0. After that, the Blues only gave up 1 hit. On the flip side, their offense was better. A total of 7 hits off of Looper, but only one counted. Rob Bowen homered in the 4th. They continued loading the bases, just to have Ryan Church fly out to center. Looper only had two Ks in his one run allowed complete game.

He got out of trouble in the first when he got Crede to fly out with 2 runners on. The next inning, he struck 2 batters out. Kip Wells was matching him. The first hit for Omaha was with 2 outs in the 3rd. The floodgates opened when Abernathy hit a home run with runners on the corners. The next inning, Simms doubled in Hillenbrand and LaForest to make the score 5-0. Boof Bonser came in for the save, but it was hardly easy. 8 batters came up, two tripled, then a double, a walk, a single. Bases loaded for Hermida, and Bonser gets him swinging. The champions are now in the win column

Game 1 (Opening Day)

Austin Uniforms - Portland Uniforms

Notes
The tradition continues. For the third strait year, Portland and Austin hook up for opening day. Portland took it in season 1, then Austin won last season. This year, the Trappers won in dramatic fashion. Two aces were on the hill as Willis and Zambrano met again. Both offenses got started, but couldn't finish. Bases loaded in both halves of the 1st, but with no runs to prove it. Timely hitting wasn't good early on for Portland, they had 3 runners on, 2 runners on, then 3 runners on to end the first 3 innings. In the 3rd, Khalil Greene connected for the first home run of the season. Portland answered with a bases loaded walk scoring Encarnacion. In the 5th inning, Sexson doubled off Zambrano. That set the scene for Marcus Giles to hit a walk off home run in the first game of season 3.

Virginia Uniforms - Montreal Uniforms

Notes
The Bums were guests to Montreal's first game. The Bleus had to go up against a Taylor Cup finalist in the last two seasons, and the best pitcher in CBL history. Mulder was going for yet another win, trailblazing history. To start the game, Adam Everett hits a lead off home run. That was pretty much all they needed. Other than the 4 walks, Mulder hurled. He threw a one hitter in his 4 innings of work. In the 3rd, Toby Hall hit a single, followed by a Blalock home run. 3-0 was a big enough lead for the Bums. But the Bleus thought they could join the fun. In the 5th, Guzman hit a solo shot off Anderson. The Blues' one run was not enough, and lost 3-1.

Omaha Uniforms - Orlando Uniforms

Notes
In the game that the M's unveiled their new championship banners, the Cyclones spoiled the party. Their bats started early, and kept up. In the first inning, when Craig Monroe hit a 3 run home run with Vidro and Valentin on base. The M's scored one off of an Abernathy homer. But the Cyclones got two more wit a Mathews, Jr two run home run. Chuck James struggled the 3 innings he pitched. He was pulled in the 4th for BJ Ryan, who gave up a 2 run homer to super-utility man Jason Ellison. Mark Prior left the game with a 4 inning masterpiece. Julio came in, and had Robels triple in Inglett. But the last batter Jamie Simms grounded out for the win.

Season 3 Predictions

Taylor Division
1.Orlando Majestics 16-8
The defending champions are back, and have an improved roster. Since last season, they have improved 4 points. The offense was the main improvement from season one, with many players playing up to their potential. Crede, Abernathy, and the utility position were vital, and got big hits. The pitching all came together for one of the best in the game. Chacon, and Wells gained points, while James and Bonser continued to be all-stars. The shortstop position is improved with Jamie Simms playing now, and they were able to keep both Robels, and Francia. With the great roster, and seven games against Montreal, the M’s have a realistic shot at a 16 win season.

Player to watch: Choo Freeman

2.Virginia Beach Bums 13-11
A team that couldn’t get over the hump again, but the Bums are falling behind. The core of the team is returning, but some important players had to leave. Both first basemen retired, one of which was one of the best player in Bums history so far. Doug Mientkiewicz’s bat will be missed, with Jason Stokes is replacing him. The starting pitching is what will support the team the most. Aging aces Mark Mulder, and Braden Looper are back once again, with their rookie Robert Ware starting this season. The team has fallen behind the original teams in a way, not being as strong, but they can still compete.

Player to watch: Robert Ware

3. Montreal Bleus 6-18
The expansion team will have a rough time in the East. The Bleus only have two 6 point pitchers, and three 3 point pitchers. The heart of the order is where their 3 point batters are, which can be a very compelling story. There isn’t much hope for the team until golden boy Rhyne St. Pierre becomes a rookie next season. They can steal some wins, but it will be tough. The teams are better this season, and they are at a large disadvantage. With some luck, they could get an upgrade or two. Since in the last two seasons, the worst teams have had bad records, and 7 wins would be the equivalent of it on a 24 game schedule. Who knows how this team will do. Only Eric Milton has played before, and it is his last season. The team is starting from the bottom and it starts now.

Player to watch: Willy Aybar

Lommel Division
1.Portland Trappers 15-9
The Trappers are a team that won’t be bad for a while. No improvement, but their rookie Ricky Bracket replaces the retired Jermaine Dye. The pitching remains the strongest in the league. They have a rotation without a bad pitcher, and Eric Gagne who didn’t give up a run last season. Oh yeah, did I mention three of the best players statistically in CBL History? Juan Encarnacion is just ridiculous, a former MVP Sean Burroughs, and Willy Mo Pena keeping his own. The team will undoubtedly contend this season if they don’t make the Taylor Cup, but they have a good chance to make it.

Player to Watch: Doug Waechter

2.Austin Roughnecks 12-12
Austin just cannot get over the hump. A promising team each year cannot get into the playoffs. The Roughnecks lost their best player, Sean Casey, to retirement. Luckily they drafted a first baseman to replace him this season. Brendan Irons will be holding the fort down at first. Only Elijah Dukes and Khalil Greene are the only other superstars in the field. Their pitching is shaky. Victor Zambrano is now the number one pitcher replacing underperforming Sidney Ponson. The RPs however is the best staff as a whole. But they are old. This is Bradford and Yan’s last season. One thing that wont be bad is the rivalry between Portland and Austin. They open up the season for the third season

Player to Watch: Brendan Irons

3.Omaha Cyclones 10-14
An improved team pitching wise, the ‘Clones are ready to compete. They sucked pitching last year, even though it got better. Prior was an All-Star, Gabbard brought his ERA down some 15 points in 5 starts, and Backe threw a no-hitter against Portland. Now they add their number one pick Akifumi Koike. The offense dropped a point with Morgan Ensberg losing a point. Gary Mathews Jr. was the hitting champion of the league last year, and he is hungry. Sadly, this is the harder division, but they wont be in the basement for long.

Player to Watch: Kason Gabbard

Meet the Rookies

Five young guns will join the CBL fraternity. The first round draft picks from the draft after season one are in the big leagues, and ready to play. Here are their bios.

Brenden Irons- Austin Roughnecks
From: Arlington, TX
W: 205 H: 6'3"
Hand: L
A big hitter in college ball, Brenden is slated to fill the shoes of Sean Casey. A power hitter in college, Irons was highly scouted for the CBL. The first base position had aged players, so being the first rookie first baseman to play in the CBL will put the 'Necks at an advantage.

Akifumi Koike(昭文小池)- Omaha Cyclones
From: Shizuoka, JPN
W: 180 H: 5'11"
Hand: R
The best pitcher in the draft class after the scouting combine, Koiki is comparable to a Daisuke Matsuzaka type pitcher. He has a strong curveball, and change up. With the Cyclones having just one star pitcher, he will add a lot to the line up.

Jaime Simms- Orlando Majestics
From: Los Gatos, CA
W: 194 H: 6'1"
Hand: R
Brought in to replace Nomar Garciaparra, Simms is finally able to show why he was the 3rd pick in the draft. Built with speed, and a bat that can hit for average, the short stop will be a boost to the season 2 champions. Similar to Troy Tulowitzki. He will bat in the 3 hole, in the heart of one of the strongest lineups in the CBL.

Ricky Bracket- Portland Trappers
From: Valdosta, GA
W: 173 H: 6'3"
Hand: L
A player with swag, Bracket's bat and speed can fill a leadoff spot. Similar to BJ Upton, if he gets a hold of a ball, he can launch it. His speed rounding bases, and getting to fly balls. With Jermaine Dye retiring, the Trappers have a great outfield with their new rookie.

Robert Ware- Virginia Beach Bums
From: Anderson, IN
W: 215 H: 6'8"
Hand: R
He has the size of Randy Johnson, and the identity to Brian Wilson. The "Heartland Hurler" will have a presence on the mound for seasons to come. He was added to help the Bums get younger on the mound. With a fastball over 100 miles an hour, when he's in the strike zone, he is deadly. But he does have control issuses if he doesn't get off to a good start.

So those are the rookies!

All-Star Game

Notes
The final Taylor-Lommel game ever, Taylor took game one last season, and Lommel got even with this game. With the first pick of the snake draft, Lommel drafted Abernathy and Everett. Lommel's team opened up the scoring when Pena hit a 3 run homer off of Zambrano in the first. After Burroughs walked, Abernathy homered off Mulder making it 5-0. The game was pretty much over, but Taylor's team didn't quit. Encarnacion homered off of Chacon. But Freeman's double off Wells that scored Blalock put them back up 5. That would be it as the closers held them scoreless. Poor Matt Anderson didn't get in the game.
